If Not Much More

A friend of mine recently shared quite an interesting story about her relationship with her boyfriend. I am not quite in the mood to tell the full version of the story. So I’m just gonna highlight the important points (tp aku rs akn jd pjg jgk las2).

So her boyfriend went out with one of his best friends (who happens to wear panties – pardon my French) one night. Not that it was a problem for my friend. She really never did mind. This, given the fact that she has never met the girl he’s going out with. That’s how much trust she had bestowed on him. Anyway, she wasn’t waiting up for him or anything (it was almost 12 midnight ok, I wouldn’t wait up too) but she was expecting a text (at the very least) from him the next morning. Not to report of his activities to her, but to tell her that he is safely home or something like that. So she asked why he didn’t sms her. His answer apart from saying he was too sleepy and all, Because you didn’t tell me to. As shocked as my friend was, she diplomatically replied (at first), Oh? I thought we have always practiced that.

Anyway, when she made a fuss out of the whole thing, he thought she was jealous. He didn’t understand why she was making a deal out of the fact that he didn’t text her when he came home. Of course my friend was hurt. I mean, they always tell each other when they have reached home after an outing regardless with who. And to be (kind of) accused of being jealous was not making things better for her. But being her, she chose to let go.

A few days after, she went out for dinner with some friends. She told him prior to that. But once she got home, she totally forgot to text him telling him that she was home. Not intentionally. She wanted to but there were a lot happening (broken fan, hp battery went flat, wanting to catch a movie on HBO etc.) in the house once she got back that it slipped her mind. He then asked her why she didn’t text him saying that she’s safely home. She was so tempted to answer, because you didn’t tell me to. Then again, knowing her, she answered that and something else. The truth. She couldn’t really tell if he was upset or anything. But he then replied, It’s ok. We sometimes forget what we have been practicing. Yes. His exact reply. You guess right, his sarcasm was not making things better at all. When she again made a fuss about his statement, he said that he just wants to know if she is safe. That’s all.

So I made an interesting conclusion out of the whole story. If she ever makes a fuss about him not texting, she’s jealous of his girlfriends. If he ever makes a fuss about her not texting, he’s concern about her safety. How does that work actually? Does she not have the right to worry about his safety? I guess not as much as him. But she loves him just as much as he loves her, if not much more. Hmm. So bagaimana?
